Are you scared of jazz? If I had a dollar for every time I've heard someone say 'I don't get jazz', I'd be a very wealthy woman. But what is 'jazz' and what is there to 'get'? The term 'jazz' is as broad as the genre, and as music genres go, this is one of the broadest. For me, the answer is simple. Keep your ears open, and listen to everything. You won’t like all of it but some of it will change your day. Or maybe even your life. This is Table 19, a weekly podcast showcasing Australian jazz and improvised music, and the people who make it. My name is Miriam Zolin and I will be your host each week as we listen to new releases, Australian classics and musician interviews.
