6 Purposes of the Holy Spirit 1. The Holy Spirit comforts you 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4  who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. (KJV) 2. The Holy Spirit leads your life Romans 8:4–5 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5  Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. You speak what the Spirit says to speak 1 Corinthians 2:13 When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. You don’t go where the Spirit says not to go Acts 16:6-7 Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia.  7  When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to. You let the Spirit speak to you through God’s people 1 Corinthians 2:12–15   And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. 13  When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. 15  Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others. He convicts saints to be sanctified 6. The Holy Spirit changes you 2 Corinthians 3:18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
