We see it all around us more and more everyday…why are people dressing like your parents in 1994? Why are we repeating trends that we thought we got rid of for good? Is fashion consistently always recycling trends? There’s no right or wrong answer, but me and my fellow fashion students sat down and had a chat about why we think we are on a global rewind with fashion and what we think the major influencing factor on why kids (and even adults) these days are reliving a time they weren’t even born in or a time that they miss. Even walking into urban outfitters feels like a time capsule these days I mean they even have cassette tapes? Who even uses those anymore? We talk about the music, the films and the subcultures that influenced us as kids and teenagers and talk about the different times that we grew up in to try to find an answer why old trends are resurfacing and how somethings that once used to be underground are now mainstream through mass marketing and mass communication in our global economy. Join me and my friends, Andressa and Edie, as we jump into the DeLorean (raise your hand if you’re a Back to the Future fan) and go back in time to discuss our opinions and our own experiences with living in an era that is longing to be another and hey maybe we might even convince you that it’s okay to buy that fanny pack or those tiny glasses, everyone else is doing it anyway right?Go on, click and the link and join us on a trip down memory lane, the fashion trends edition!
