Health & Fitness
Let’s be honest...most of us have tried some kind of diet at some point in our lives. And most often, it is to lose weight or achieve some kind of body ideal that we have set in our minds. But dieting can easily send us on a track to disordered eating, negative body image and poor self-esteem. When we fixate on foods being good or bad, numbers on the scale, and the never ending quest to lose “just 5-10 pounds,” it can lead to feelings of depression, anxiety, and even trauma. The diet industry makes millions of dollars by marketing unattainable standards of thinness to women that are based on western beauty standards and completely dismiss healthy living and eating habits based on ethnic, religious or other cultural traditions. And when we have these images delivered to us constantly through tv, social media, and print, it is very easy to develop a negative with food and the scale. Join Jamie and her guests, Tonya and Tracy as they explore how you can push back against the diet fad industry, find peace with food, and develop a more positive relationship with your body.
