We are all natural liars. One of the lies I’ve told myself for the longest time is that happiness is tied to success and success meant money, titles, but it also meant taking on unbearable negative stress, mired in toxic company politics and being a terrible husband and father. See how this lie is so conflicting and puts me in a situation where I can never be happy? The very act of pursuing happiness meant I was doomed to be depressed, with resentment towards where I’m at in my career and resentment toward those I loved for holding me back.
