A growing number of disabled people in Britain are now living in poverty - as are their carers. Yet while public spending on benefits has fallen dramatically, the cost of paying contractors to conduct controversial fitness-to-work assessments has soared. Literally thousands of sick and disabled people are now known to have died after being declared fit for work. And there's evidence the system is being quietly 'rigged' to put off disabled people from claiming benefits to which they're entitled. The UN says the UK government has committed "grave and systematic" violations of disabled people's human rights.
