TROPA is a premium tequila and collectible design object built around exceptional liquid, art, hospitality and discovery. The name comes from tropa, Spanish for troop: it was founded in Melbourne, Australia by Paul Solomon, Joost Poulus and Nick Heine, three friends who wanted to bottle a good night and share it with the right tables. The liquid and the bottle carry equal weight, TROPA isn't a tequila in interesting packaging, and it isn't a design object that happens to hold tequila. Each bottle is 100% agave, produced at NOM 1412 in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, where a functional mushroom blend is used during distillation, then aged three months in American oak and poured into a hand-cast ceramic vessel topped with one of four randomized collectible caps: Scarlet, Skye, Moss or Midas. The tequila itself is smooth and rounded, with notes of hazelnut, vanilla, oak, caramel and cinnamon, best sipped neat, on the rocks or in a sour rather than buried in something sweeter. TROPA Reposado is available directly at tropatequila.com for $160 USD, with select retail and on-premise accounts centered in Los Angeles, alongside a five-year-aged Añejo Artist Series made with artist Nikolai Haas for collectors chasing something rarer. tropatequila.com
