Why do we see the Ten Commandments as 9 commandments and one suggestion? In Deuteronomy it says to observe a Sabbath because Israel is not enslaved by Egypt anymore. A Sabbath was a reminder that you are not a commodity, you are not valuable because of what you can produce, you are free! You are a human being! Might be time to stop thinking of a Sabbath as a suggestion. Sabbath is God reminding us we're not enslaved to work, we are more than what we can produce, we are children of God.
