In this episode, I chat to Lulu Becker, a physiotherapist specialising in women’s health. Lulu is based in Durban and has a passion for helping women to reconnect to, and embrace, their feminine power. She works with women during pregnancy as well as postpartum, and assists with pelvic pain, breastfeeding issues and incontinence. In this episode, we delve into a fascinating discussion about the vagina and the mind-body-emotional connection that occurs with any trauma to the vagina - whether that be from abuse or childbirth. We also chat about the more practical side of the vagina and the pelvic floor and Lulu shares some of her insight and excellent tips around the effect of both pregnancy and caesarean and vaginal birth on the pelvic floor and what we can do to protect and heal our pelvic floors during all of these beautiful life experiences. Just a warning before we begin, Lulu and I do discuss sexual abuse, rape, pregnancy and childbirth in this episode, so if you’re particularly triggered by these topics, then perhaps it’s best to tune out now. I really hope you enjoy this discussion - I absolutely adore and appreciate the amazing work Lulu is doing for women all around the world and I really believe conversations around the topics we discuss are so very important and in urgent need of becoming things we chat about without blinking an eyelid. Our health as women and mothers (if you are) is our most important aid in living beautiful and creative lives and raising strong, well-adjusted children.
