Sovereignty to the Christian is defined as being the Supreme Being having supreme authority over everything created. Easton's Bible Dictionary defines God's Sovereignty as His "absolute right to do all things according to his own good pleasure." In the Ten Commandments found in Exodus 20, God delivers to Moses that which God considers sovereignty. “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before Me. “You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me.” From the beginning God has served as Prophet, Priest, King, and Judge. Throughout time God has appointed earthly prophets, priests, kings, and judges to rule in His Kingdom, but never to usurp Him. This sermon traces some of those temporary earthly rulers through their rise and eventual fall. It has always been God’s plan to bring the prophet, the priest, the King, and the judge together as a singular ruler without equal. That person was and is Jesus, the King of kings and Lord of lords. As you watch and listen remember that God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is the one and only Prophet, Priest, King, and Judge. His reign is absolute. Sermon Passages: Exodus 20:1-6 and Romans 15:4
