To celebrate the first day of fall we are covering The Scapegoat- a novel by Daphne du Maurier, which takes place over the course of one autumnal week in the French countryside. We'll be comparing the philosophical intent of the book with the more dramatic adaptations, and discuss whether these changes enhance the story, or alter it too much. Tabby's Modern Thought: Coverture and female sterilization in the U.S.. Dr. Varnam's Modern Thought: Compassion in the time of Corona, and Daphne du Maurier's essay "This I Believe."
