In the second episode (E12) of the second season of the medical podcast, Atypical Presentation, we discuss the topic of post-traumatic growth, the other side to those normally met with the harsh psychological sequelae of surviving a traumatic event. What changes in the brain when one experiences a trauma? Is there a way to change in a positive way? Are we the facilitators of this change, or is it something the brain innately tries to do, and can we help it? We explore many hot spots in relation to this growth, like that of rumination, resilience, and other factors that can aid someone in experiencing this life-altering growth. Also, of particular importance in this social and political day and age of the #metoo movement, we talk about PTG and intimate partner violence.
