The Hangman, also known as Sofia Falcone, is portrayed as a psychotic serial killer; yet, Cristin Milioti's acting falls short of evoking the desired sense of terror or insanity. Episode 2 shows a glimpse of her extreme lunacy as she uses a menacing mask to scare a mother. However, Milioti's performance is still uneven because she doesn't quite fit the part. Her indignant expression and expressive eyes seem to be an overabundance of their attempt to convey "delirium" and "instability." Because of this, Sofia's performance is limited to what we already know about her: her intense love for her brother and her unwavering pursuit of his killer.
