Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. Matthew 2:1-3 (NIV) After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. Matthew 2:9 (NIV) For The Magic Of Christmas 1. Search for the Savior. After Jesus’ birth wise men from the east arrived in Jerusalem. They asked, “Where is the one who was born to be the king of the Jews? We saw his star rising and have come to worship him.” Matthew 2:1(GW) God: “When you search for me with all your heart, you will find me!” Jeremiah 29:13 (NCV) 2. Experience the Joy. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. Matthew 2:10 (NASB) Angels: “I bring you the most joyful news ever announced, and it is for everyone! The Savior . . . has been born tonight!” Luke 2:10-11 (TLB) 3. Recognize the Gift. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Matthew 2:11 (NIV) Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2:11 (NLT) When they returned to their own land, they didn’t go through Jerusalem to report to Herod, for God had warned them in a dream to go home another way. Matthew 2:12 (TLB)
