This sermon, called "The Light of the World", looks at John 1:1-14 where Jesus is presented by John as the "true light that gives light to everyone". We are also told "...the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him." Sometimes we are glad when we have light so we can see where we are going. At other times we recoil when we have been in the dark of a movie theater or waking up in the morning and someone turns on a bright light in the room. People responded to Jesus in the same way when he came and still respond in mixed ways today. We look at what it means that Jesus is the light of the world and why we desperately need this light today.
