The Indian Woman's Summer Nightwear Guide: Stay Cool, Sleep Better

Business

Choosing the right summer nightwear in India depends on more than just the season. Fabric, fit, humidity, room temperature, and air conditioning all affect sleeping comfort. Lightweight 100% cotton is recommended as the most versatile option, particularly in the 120 to 160 GSM range. Cotton-modal and linen-cotton blends can also work well, while polyester and other synthetic-heavy fabrics are less suitable for hot summer nights because they can retain heat and moisture.

For non-air-conditioned rooms, loose shorts sets provide good airflow and are especially comfortable during peak summer. Women who prefer more coverage can choose loose, straight or wide-leg cotton pyjama sets. In air-conditioned rooms, lightweight full-length pyjamas or camisole sets may be more comfortable depending on the room temperature.

The guide also highlights the importance of weave and GSM. Plain-weave, lightweight cotton generally provides better airflow, while heavier fabrics can feel warmer. Your bedding matters too, with cotton or linen sheets helping maintain a cooler sleep environment.

Summer nightwear should be washed frequently because of perspiration. Mild detergent, air drying, and rotating three to four sets can help preserve fabric quality. For a practical wardrobe, two to three cotton shorts sets, one or two lightweight pyjama sets, and a light robe can cover different summer conditions.
