László Tóth became a revolutionary architect in his hometown of Budapest. After escaping the turmoil of post-war Europe, he ends up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, living in a small back room of a furniture store owned by his relative, Attila. His big opportunity arises when wealthy siblings Harry and Maggie hire him to transform their late father's messy study into a peaceful reading room. At first, Harrison Lee Van Buren is skeptical about the design. However, he eventually changes his perspective and presents László with a profitable chance to create a new community center he has in mind. The narrative then shifts to the arrival of László’s wife, Erszébet, in America. What should be a joyful occasion turns into a tense situation involving Van Buren and various obstacles related to the construction project. Browse this film on The Brutalist 2025 HuraWatch.
