"The Bellwether Dispatch" stories center on a reenactment of a century old postcard weather report service - which reports were derived through a series of both oracular and clumsy events, and then printed on a postcard and delivered by hand to all the residents in town. As then, so now: treasure is involved and cryptic puzzles to be solved.
