Candess is a Senior Software Engineer for Ernst and Young and NFL Pro Bowl Cheerleader and Captain for the Washington Redskins. She is a graduate and former athlete of the University of Maryland, College Park where she received a B.S. in Computer Science in 2016 while cheering on the Terps on the UMD danceteam. She currently holds two certifications from Amazon Web Services as a Certified Developer and Certified SysOps Administrator. As a black female, Candess is passionate about giving back to women and people of color especially in STEM fields because of the severe lack of diversity of the technology industry. She periodically volunteers with BlackGirlsCode, a non profit that teaches STEM courses to young women of color and Science Cheerleaders, a non profit that is composed of NFL/NBA cheerleaders that have thriving STEM careers. Outside of working as a programmer, Candess has been cheering for the Washington Redskins since 2016 where she joined the team after being awarded the fan favorite rookie vote. She has had the opportunity to travel on multiple tours overseas to visit our military and their families. She is published in four of the annual, top selling swimsuit calendars and is displayed as a back-cover model on the 2019 issue. USAToday has named her as one of the top 10 NFL cheerleaders on 2017. In 2019, she was recognized by the Washington Redskins and voted into the NFL Pro Bowl as the sole cheerleader representative. She is currently entering her fifth season in the NFL as a Captain and holding over 10,000 followers on her official social media account. She was recently honored as one of the University of Maryland’s "30 under 30" in 2020.
