Hey guys here is my coffee table book review of Soul Train: The Music, Dance, and Style of a Generation by Questlove. Disclaimer I was never really into Soul Train and I haven't had luck with Questlove books. I DNF'd two previous books by him. But since Soul Train is a big part of Black Music History I felt like I should at least check it out and enjoyed this book. He takes you through the history of Soul Train and his favorite episodes and performances. I learned a lot because I didn't watch the show that often. He talks about how Don Cornelius took an idea and made it happen, Soul Train working with labels like Motown to get small and big acts on the stage, being a platform to start or revive careers, transitioning through the music changes over the years, changing of themes and theme songs, Soul Train dancers and how they got started and how the Soul Train Line came to be, etc. I wasn't a big fan of the sho but I enjoyed this book.
