I read chapter one of my book, The Teachings of a Toltec Survivor. In this chapter, the origins of the Toltec lineage are presented, along with certain principles of esoteric work the Toltecs used. The image of temple prostitutes is used here to illustrate the way in which work on self can happen, and the relationship between the outer world and the inner, by presenting their relationship not as dual, but triune. Here, the world we will use to work on, the tonal, is not just the inner world of the mind and the outer world of the senses. It is, instead, a system of three concentric circles, or a three leveled piramidal structure, with an exoteric, a mesoteric, and an esoteric center--each with its own language and practices.
