For a long time, Sally Newall ran a successful catering company that had been passed down to her by her mother. Although this career choice was a little accidental, she was without a doubt a very talented chef and soon catered for up to five events a week. But the one thing that really made her stand out was the homemade ice cream that she would present to the guests as dessert for every event. Eventually, guests were asking Sally where they could purchase the ice cream so often that she decided to give the artisan ice cream business a go. And so, Simply Ice Cream was born. Within just a few years, Simply Ice Cream grew from being sold through one local farm shop to supplying Waitrose and Morrisons stores all across the South of England. All the while, Sally was balancing this rapidly developing company with raising four children and still catering for events! Today we talk to Sally about her top tips on how to recognise a good product, how to approach the artisan food industry and the value of selling fresh, homemade produce. If you want to learn about how to tackle the food industry, keep listening!
