Joe and I had the amazing opportunity to speak with progressive leader and Medicare for All supporter Shahid Buttar right before this episode. I know I promised to record the conversation but Joe and I had a much more personal and in-depth conversation with Shahid because we decided to keep it personal and recount our discussion to you. Our discussion about nuclear power plants and weapons was not well researched. Shahid was the first real challenger to Nancy Pelosi's congressional seat in the 12th district of California in 2020. His campaign managed to win the districts wild-card primary (top 2 vote getters move on to general election regardless of party) by beating the republican in the primary race Shahid demonstrated that there is a real appetite for progressive policies like Medicare for All and a 15$ minimum wage but not enough to wake up the moderates that have been bought by the democratic machine. If your interest in exploring the dysfunction around Shahid's first campaign just google "Shahid Buttar campaign manager" and the defamatory medium piece will show up. It's our belief that the charges brought against Shahid by his former staffers were overblown and potentially fabricated because Nancy was threatened by Shahid, essentially telling his staff that they would never be able to work in democratic politics again if they didn't quit the campaign and public drag Shahid's reputation through the mud right after winning the primary. Our conversation with Mel was fun and laid back as usual. We cover racism in schools, and children's natural propensity to segregate. The Japanese aren't letting athletes support BLM at the Olympics. The NBA's playin format is pretty cool, and much much more. Jake Paul has gotta stop takin people stuff. Onlyfans is outta control. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/americandualism/message
