Saturday, September 14, 2019 The Walk to End Alzheimer's is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against Alzheimer's disease. Take the first step by signing up at alz.org/ri/walk. Join us and lead the way to Alzheimer's first survivor. Together we can end Alzheimer's disease! Ocean Beach Park in New London CT and Misquamicut State Beach in Westerly RI. Registration at both events begins at 8:30 on Saturday, September 14. The Walk in Westerly begins at 10:00 and starts at 10:30 in New London. There is no registration fee for Walk. However, we do ask every walker to make a personal donation and commit to raising funds in the fight against Alzheimer's disease. Connecticut Maritime Heritage Festival continues at City Pier in New London. The event starts at 10:00 with public ship visitations which include the USCG Barque Eagle. Family Arts & Fun Zone and the Family STEM & Infotainment Zone run until 4:00. Restaurants will be competing in the "Great New London Chowder Challenge" from 11:00 until 3:00. Flock Theater will present The Burning of Benedict Arnold from 6:00 until 10:00. RT 2 starts just outside of Westerly and runs through Pawcatuck, North Stonington, Ledyard, Preston and Norwich.
