Episode 57 of the conversations between Dr. Yogita Pant and Dr. Anil Chawla discusses the victorious campaign towards south led by Sahdev. On his journey towards the south, Sahdev encountered many kingdoms. He could win many by diplomacy, but was required to use force in some cases. Sahdev was fighting against King Neel’s army when he found that Neel was supported by Agnidev. Neel prayed to Agnidev and said that all offerings in Raajsooy yagy would be to Agnidev and hence, Agnidev should not act as a hindrance. Agnidev blessed Sahdev and agreed to help. On Agnidev’s instructions, Neel agreed to pay taxes to Sahdev. When Sahdev reached the bridge which was constructed by Ram and which led to Lanka, Sahdev decided to call his nephew Ghatotkatch, son of Bheem and Hidimbaa, to act as an ambassador to Vibheeshan, the King of Lanka. Ghatotkatch visited Lanka and Vibheeshan agreed to cooperate by paying taxes. (Mahabharat/Sabhaaparv/ Digvijay Parv/Chapter 31).

Mahabharat and Valmiki Ramayan are the two fundamental foundation epics of Hinduism. Mahabharat teaches one about every aspect of life. The struggle in the epic is the clash between two different life-values. Dwaipaayan Krishn and Vaasudev Krishn put in relentless and continuous efforts to establish and strengthen the same fundamental values and ideals for which Ram fought the war against Raavan. By learning and understanding this story and by adopting the learnings into our behaviour we can make our life happy and rich.
