What does it mean to heal? As a leader why is this so important for us to heal and to help others heal? Through my career, I have been in situations where emotions were not looked at as something that happened to people at work. We are holistic people and so we come to our work with emotions. When we are in the thick of things and are asked to keep it at bay, it does more harm to our productivity, our ability to concentrate and to focus on the task at hand. By listening to others, allowing them to feel the feels, it leads to someone who ultimately feels better about themselves and about the situation. This ability to heal, takes a deep level of listening. Listening internally to yourself, so you can heal and also listening deeply to those you lead. Our thoughts go to either love or fear. In the workplace and frankly in the world, there is a high level of fear about a lot of things. This fear impedes us from doing what we are called to do and it stops us from being happy or having joy. When someone truly sees us…truly listens to us, showing empathy…this can make all the difference in the world. You see, empathy is feeling with people…when we allow ourselves to feel the feels, it makes it easier to help others do the same. In this episode, I will be sharing how the committee in your head can help you heal, how trusting yourself and listening internally can allow you to move forward into a life that you love and why this is so important. Loving your own life, being in the lane you were meant to be in, doing the work you were put her to do…this leads to modeling for others and allowing others to heal. It’s important to find someone - maybe multiple someone’s - you trust to begin down the road of leadership growth. At the end of the day, you owe it to your team and counterparts to embrace your role as a leader.
