Listen and Silent Have the Same Letters. Throughout my career I have continued to learn more and more about what it means to truly listen. Listening is so much more than the verbal and non-verbal rhetoric we’ve all heard. Listening requires empathy and compassion along with self-awareness and the ability to remain silent. In this episode, I will be sharing the four levels of listening: Downloading, Attentive, Empathetic, and Generative Listening with examples and tips to better listening. Silence is a key component to listening well; however many people are very uncomfortable with silence. I’ll be discussing ways to practice silence both internally and while working with others.
