Your Global Voice -- Voices of women host Denise Joy Thompson talks with Margie O'Kane from Melbourne Australia about her journey from a young girl in the 1950s to being in her 8th decade. Margie shares seeing her strong-personality mother engage in traditional female roles, she (Margie) choosing a traditional female career to know Margie is a champion of women and educating women and girls to fully embrace and live their potential. Margie lived and saw gender inequality and sees hope in the generations of today and the future to achieve equality. Margie's purpose in her life now is "Creating a World of Women of Significance".Margie O’Kane is a talented educator, speaker, visionary and mentor who has spent her life in service of others. She has a fervent commitment to making a difference in people’s lives. This innovative gifted communicator has made it her mission to support people to live their value.Her background is in client-centered care, and she has worked as a Registered Nurse, Midwife and Consultant for over 50 years, as a Manager and Director of Nursing. She has trained hundreds of people in leadership, communication and clinical skills. Margie has traveled widely to rural and remote areas throughout Australia supporting the local health authorities on clinical issues and leadership. She is a skilled auditor in many various Quality Standards.Apart from her Nursing and Midwifery qualifications, Margie has a Bachelor in Health Administration, is a Master Trainer in Neuro Linguistic Programming and a Grief Counselor. Her skills as a mentor and consultant are widely utilized, and she is working with a range of people, including women in their 70’s who she feels are made invisible by society, to encourage them to believe in their wisdom and skills and to share them with others in a meaningful way.Margie’s new adventure is to equip baby boomer women to reignite their passion and purpose so they have no regrets and live a life complete. Margie’s Vision is to create a global movement of 1 million baby boomers to become women of significance. Women who want to spend the next 10, 15, 20 years being an inspiration to themselves, their families and their communities. Women who want to give more and share their stories, wisdom and skill and leave a legacy.
