Mahsa Bazrafshan, PhD student in Landscape ecology at ETH Zürich and WSL, guested on this episode of DoctorYou! She researches on how the cultural background of people influences their wellbeing in urban greenspaces. In particular she asks Afghan, Iranian and Swiss people how they perceive historical and modern green spaces in Switzerland and Iran (Rieter park, Irchel park, Persian gardens in Shiraz and Kermand and Water-and-Fire park in Tehran). We start by discussing how her research question arose, the 4 criteria for a garden to be called "Persian garden", the intermediate results of her research and the next steps which will include virtual reality glasses to "bring" Swiss people into Persian gardens and Iranian people into Swiss urban greenspaces.
