Rutger Oelsen Hauer (1944 - 2019) was the iconic Dutch actor who made a name for himself in Europe before heading to Hollywood alongside director and frequent collaborator Paul Verhoeven (ROBOCOP). Rutger proved he could inhabit a number of different characters but would frequently find a niche for himself taking on the darker roles of the International terrorist, the lonely hitchhiker, the Italian mercenary, the vampire king, and the renegade Replicant.
