My Fellow Americans: The Inaugural Addresses of the U.S. Presidents

History

Richard M. Nixon delivered his first inaugural address on January 20th, 1969. Five years later, he would resign in disgrace after the Watergate Scandal. His time in office nonetheless saw monumental moments in American history – the deescalation and end of the Vietnam War, détente with the Soviet Union  the ABM Treaty, formal diplomatic relations with China, and the establishment of the EPA. This culminated in a landslide victory of George McGovern in the 1972 election The cover art is a 1984 portrait of Richard Nixon by James Anthony Wills.
