TV & Film
“Love Hurts Lookmovie” oscillates between the energetic vibe of “Rumble in the Bronx” and a tribute to the gritty charm of ’70s exploitation films. While it attempts to capture these influences, the film ultimately falls short, presenting a saccharine portrayal of Marvin as the epitome of kindness. With his glasses and quirky sweater, Marvin is depicted baking heart-shaped cookies, tending to his garden gnome, and cycling to work while picking up litter. His endearing demeanor, complemented by his realtor tagline, “I want a home for you,” mirrors the lovable character that Quan portrayed in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” However, Quan's cheerful nature is consistently overshadowed by the film's disjointed editing.
