Reflections on anti-racist strategy and tactics after the Bannon/Frum protest Discussion with Toronto community organizers Maya, Rachel & Sharmeen -> Listen, download and share: https://soundcloud.com/nobordersmedia/mayarachelsharmeen In this No Borders Media audio dispatch, we get insights and perspectives on resisting the racist far-right from three anti-racist organizers in Toronto involved in the recent mobilization against the Steve Bannon/David Frum Munk "Debate". Sharmeen Khan, Maya Menezes and Rachel Small -- all actively involved in mobilizing over 1000 people to oppose racism in Toronto this past Friday -- collectively share their frontline organizing reflections. Together, Sharmeen, Maya and Rachel address many tactical and strategic challenges in resisting the far-right, including confronting police violence, organized media work, coalition building, experiments in organizing, using disruptive tactics, rejecting cynicism, and overcoming marginality by engaging in concerted public and popular education. This interview was recorded late on November 5, 2018, three days after Toronto protest against Bannon and Frum. -> Listen, download and share: https://soundcloud.com/nobordersmedia/mayarachelsharmeen For updates on legal support for the anti-racists arrested at the protest against Bannon & Frum, visit www.facebook.com/NoOneIsIllegalNetwork ------- Here are some other recent No Borders Media podcasts of interest: - Feature interview with Gord Hill, author of THE ANTIFA COMIC BOOK: 100 Years of Fascism and Antifa Movements Around The World (Arsenal Pulp Press) Listen here: https://soundcloud.com/nobordersmedia/gordhillantifacomicbook - No Borders Media News Round-up Podcast #4: The election of the CAQ & Racism in Quebec Listen here: https://soundcloud.com/nobordersmedia/electioncaq - Resisting the right-wing Ford government and the far-right in Ontario: A conversation with Toronto-area left-wing activists Desmond Cole, Niloofar Golkar, Syed Hussan & Sharmeen Khan Listen here: https://soundcloud.com/nobordersmedia/torontonewsroundup - No Borders Media feature interview with members of Rose City Antifa (Portland, OR) Listen here: https://soundcloud.com/nobordersmedia/rosecityantifa - Grassroots Black Canada & Opposing the Deportation of Abdoul Abdi (interview with El Jones) Listen here: https://soundcloud.com/nobordersmedia/grassrootsblackcanada - Butterfly Sabrina Gopaul, Jane-Finch Action Against Poverty, on community resistance to racism Listen here: https://soundcloud.com/nobordersmedia/butterflyjanefinch ------- NO BORDERS MEDIA No Borders Media is an autonomous left-wing media network.
