Miscellaneous

In this episode of “What’s Up in Sports,” host David Goldman discusses the tobacco epidemic in Major League Baseball. Recently, cities like Chicago and New York have banned smokeless tobacco in public stadiums. This is just a small step in eliminating tobacco in baseball altogether. According to New York Magazine, between 25 and 30 percent of major leaguers use some sort of smokeless tobacco (source below). Former high school baseball player Joe Flaherty and Marquette Club Baseball President Chris Tredwell join the show to talk about whether tobacco is rooted in baseball’s culture, and how it is affecting youth players.
