In this episode, I talk with Dr. John DeGarmo, an expert in Parenting and Foster Care. John and his wife, Dr. Kelly DeGarmo, have been foster parents for 17 years and have had over 60 children come through their home while raising their own six children. They are the recipients of the Good Morning America Ultimate Hero Award, and the Up With People Every Day Hero Award. The two also were honored with their city's Citizens of the Year Award. He has written several books, including the highly acclaimed Fostering Love: One Foster Parent's Journey and is a TEDx speaker. He writes regularly for many magazines, and is a regular contributor to several publications and newsletters, both in the United States and in Europe. He is also the founder of The Foster Care Institute. He has devoted his life to helping make the foster care system a better one, for all involved, and to help people become better parents.
