Doris Kruse has personally experienced the effects of both addiction and mental illness in her own family and believes that addiction and mental health treatment is America’s number-one health issue. She has worked in the field of addiction, domestic violence, mental health, and family services for forty-three years, including in prisons, outpatient programs, inpatient programs, DUI programs, domestic violence programs, and as the director of a large hospital unit and the owner of an outpatient addiction, domestic violence program. For thirty-six of those years, she taught for the Office of Behavioral Health and in colleges and Native American reservation programs, and in states beyond Colorado, writing many program curriculums for a variety of health care programs. More recently, she has moved into alternative medicine and found a new passion in energy medicine such as Reiki, in which she is a Reiki Master Teacher, and teaches Cherokee Body Work, acupressure, and other energy-work forms.
