Miscellaneous

Hi, its Steve Woods, the Hypnotist here with this second video about Hypnosis Myths. In celebration of World Hypnotism Day on the 4th January. If you are watching this through my Podcast or YouTube channel make sure you subscribe to see the rest of these videos over the next few days. I should mention as well that usually these are audio only podcasts, so if thats your thing, normal service will resume after these videos. So todays short video is entitled….. Can the Hypnotist control me? This is very similar to yesterdays myth and I did consider not covering this as a topic on its own but in the end decided to. When we watch a stage hypnosis show it often gives the impression that the Hypnotist is controlling everyone and to some degree they are. If I have 10 people all busy on stage, all hypnotisded, believe me, I need to be in control of every aspect of whats happening. But….. and you knew there would be a but otherwise it wouldnt be a myth….. all those people on stage want to be there, they want to entertain and they are good hypnosis subjects because I have gone through a process to select them. Not one of them is doing anything that they dont want to do, they volunteered to be selected. Its probably better to think that I am directing things rather than controlling. There could be something I ask one of them to do that crosses a line with them and I will see instantly that they dont want to do that and I will change things, most of the time the audience does not even see this. In the therapy environment the word enable comes up again. I am not controlling someone, I am enabling them to find the change and make it happen. If for some reason they dont want the change then we are wasting each others time. If there is a block holding them back then we find it and enable them to shift it. When you are hypnotised deeply, you are still aware, you can still hear the traffic outside or noises from another room. Your mind still knows your own morals and beliefs and you do remember everything after the session. The Hypnotist will direct you to find the change you are there for, or to release the entertainer in you and to have fun. Mind control? No, enabling change and directing you to get there? Yes I hope you have enjoyed this quick video about a myth around Hypnosis. Join me tomorrow for the next myth and remember to subscribe to the podcast or youtube channel wherever you are watching this.
