My NMN Experiment

Miscellaneous

So, how did I get to this point, the point where I am about to take Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN) as a daily supplement? Longevity for some just means living longer, for me that would be great, but my main aim is to live as long as I can being as healthy as I can. Playing a full and active part in life as I can. As a father, I now have a young family, in 15 to 20 years as a Grandfather I may have an even younger family, I want my final years to be as full and rewarding as possible. Over decades much research has been done by Dr David Sinclair and his team at Harvard Medical School, and their success in with mice using first NAD, NAD+ and now NMN is remarkable. NMN has been shown to increase NAD levels in mice that reverses symptoms such as muscle wastage, insulin resistance and inflammation, all are, on humans used as indicators of the aging process. In all cases, after only 1 week the 2-year old mice were reflecting the expected findings of 6-month old mice in the areas of muscle wastage, insulin resistance and inflammation. In human terms that would be comparable to a 75-year old having the results you would expect from a 25-year old (33.4%). I would be happy with half that, feeling like a 50-year old at 75 would be great, what about you? Also, when NAD levels drop, as they do as part of the natural aging process, they also stop genes that decelerate or check the aging process; which in turn accelerates the aging process.
