On this week’s episode of Gather & Glow the podcast host LaKeisha Entsuah is joined by mom of 1 and retail expert Kendra James to talk about how motherhood led to a mindset shift. Kendra shares how she is transforming a career in retail into helping others make the most of their retail skills. About the GuestKendra James is a creative consultant and media entrepreneur residing in the outskirts of Philadelphia. A Temple University graduate, she earned a Bachelors of Arts in Strategic and Organizational Communications with a focus in Public Relations.Kendra started her career in marketing working for free and taking on her own clients to gain experience and exercise her creativity. She eventually lent her skills and experience to a full service communications firm, AOI Events and PR as the Business Development and Creative Services Director. In addition to being onboard with AOI, Kendra has worked with Women In Media Global since its inception in 2013, serving as an assistant, committee member and now as the Board Chairwoman. She’s been graciously awarded with The Leadership Award by Women In Media Global and received multiple city citations for her work with Women In Media Global, Global Entrepreneurship Week Philly and community involvement.Retail Skills & Dollar Bills came about from 15 years in the Retail Industry learning and developing as a salesperson and store manager. ”I worked in retail straight out of high school and was given my first Assistant Manager job upon graduating college at age 23. By age 25 I had my own store and was pretty clear on the basic operations of managing a business, but I knew that I wanted advancement beyond a store front.” Her hope is to motivate and empower retail industry workers and really any aspiring entrepreneur to know their worth, understand their skill set is marketable and strengthen areas of opportunity.As a student of the world, Kendra is working on pursuing her passions both in front of and behind the scenes of the Media and Retail Industries.
