Moccasin Maker Minnetonka is publicly apologizing for profiting off of making Native-inspired designs such as moccasins. The company’s CEO put out a statement saying, they “deeply and meaningfully apologize” for benefiting from selling Indigenous inspired designs without directly honoring Native culture or communities. Was this apology warranted? Should people not make or produce a product unless their ancestors created it?
