Prof. Dan Poenaru is a pediatric surgeon with expertise in global surgery and colorectal disease. He is also an FRQS- and CIHR-funded investigator, directs the Jean-Martin Laberge Fellowship in Global Pediatric Surgical Research and heads up the CommiSur Lab exploring communication in surgery between the surgical team and families, and within surgical team, as well as the application of AI and VR in surgery.
Dr. Fabio Botelho is a trauma and pediatric surgeon from Minas Gerais, Brazil. Additionally, he is the Jean-Martin Laberge Global Pediatric Surgery Fellow at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, besides a Ph.D. candidate at McGill University. He is also a Médecins Sans Frontières surgeon, a full member of the Brazilian College of Surgeons, Brazilian Pediatric Surgical Association, and a collaborator of the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change of the Harvard Medical School.
