The other day I got into my car and twisted my hip in such a way that it ached for days. At the height of when it was most sore, I had a coaching appointment with a client, but all I could think of was the pain in my hip. I stopped and took a deep breath just before I got on the call and reminded myself of this verse. He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you [My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.” Therefore, I will all the more gladly boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ [may completely enfold me and] may dwell in me. 2 Cor 12:9 (Amp) The Truth of God’s love and care for me settled into my heart and mind and I felt faith and hope rise up from my belly. As I felt the weakness in my physical body and acknowledged that even though I may be an experienced coach - I am just a human being, I felt the love and pleasure of the Lord for both me and my client. In that session he got free from a defensive belief system and we set him up for huge success for the meeting he would be going into the next day with a client of his own. It never ceases to amaze me how, when we acknowledge our own limited ability as human beings and keep our eyes fixed on God - partnering with the wisdom of the Holy Spirit in order to bring heaven to earth, amazing shifts happen in our lives and God is glorified. So, just like Paul, I will tell of my weaknesses all day long so that the power of Christ can be shown in me - and every heart can be filled with hope.
