The “American Dream” has been an extremely powerful influence for the global Filipino. More powerful than our love for our own country and culture. The battle and challenges of first generation Filipinos in North America have long been overcome and now is the time for healing and reflection. In the end, technology will disrupt the so-called language barrier and when such time comes, how do Filipinos cope with the fact that the only barometer for intelligence that we have been indoctrinated with has been levelled? Where else do we excel? What have we become? How do we stay relevant?
