The latest count also meant the total caseload since the start of the pandemic has now topped two million. Meanwhile, health officials stressed the omicron variant's fatality rate remains stable and that the current COVID-19 situation is part of a process to get to endemic status. (Eunice KIM) In-Depth News Analysis: A new forecast has shown that as many as 360,000 daily new COVID-19 infections could be seen by early next month. Despite this, the government has remained confident that it has a handle on the situation, and has eased curfews for restaurants and cafes from 9pm to 10pm.
