Welcome to the HealthCheck Box Podcast, your trusted source for medical tourism insights and expert health tips. I’m michal Phoenix, and today we’re talking about the Differences Between Total vs Partial Knee Replacement Surgery. TKR and PKR are two surgical options for knee arthritis that differ in surgery. In total knee replacement, the entire knee joint is replaced. In partial knee replacement, only one arthritic compartment of the knee joint is replaced; however, healthy tissue and bone are left intact. Total knee replacement is usually done for patients with diffuse knee arthritis or for patients who have lost a significant portion of their knee joint structure. Although PKR will damage less tissue, have a quicker recovery, and feel more natural after surgery, it is only appropriate for arthritic degeneration of one compartment of the knee, and not appropriate for inflamed or compromised tissue in healthy compartments of the knee.
