A short story in Bishnupriya Manipuri language narrated by the author himself. Dr. Smriti Kumar Sinha is a renowned academician and a globally recognized author from north-east India.
This short story is based on Lilavati, daughter of renowned mathematician Bhaskaracharya. His book on mathematics - Lilavati is named after his daughter. I was always inquisitive to know why he named the book after his daughter, something that was so unconventional given that era.
It is believed that her earring fell on the hourglass which made the 'muhurta', the auspicious time, of her marriage inaccurate and hence she remained unmarried throughout.
This story is an imaginary extrapolation of the emotions and the situation at that time. It is not a historical fact.
