In this episode of Newshour Debate, with Navika Kumar, we discuss the question of who is to blame for the Yamuna river turning toxic every year? Huge icebergs of toxic waste were seen floating on the river this morning leading to a massive health crisis right in time for the holy Chhath Puja dip. Dr Ashok Seth, Chairman of FORTIS lists out the “health emergency” and says that foreign cities would have been “locked down completely”. Suhel Seth, a columnist also explains how he is forced to leave the city at this time of the year as it becomes “inhabitable for all.” Reena Gupta, a spokesperson of AAP defends the government on some contentious issues like air pollution and the filth plaguing the Yamuna.
