This week we wanted to briefly touch on the case of Kori Gauthier, the 18 year old LSU student who disappeared from the middle of the Mississippi River Bridge. Unfortunately Gauthier's body was discovered on April 14th and the police have inexplicably ruled out foul play, as often seen in cases of missing Black youth and teens. Gauthier's case, as well as Marquise Jones and the handling of the Quawan Charles case highlight the indisputable differences in how law enforcement and media cover and respond to missing Black children vs. white children.
