Ichabod 2 Chronicles 7:1-3 2 Chronicles 7:1-3, “When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. 2 The priests could not enter the temple of the Lord because the glory of the Lord filled it. 3 When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the Lord above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying, “He is good; his love endures forever.” 1. The Glory of the LORD filled the temple. Shekinah - God's manifested glory 2. The Lord fills us today with His presence and power. a. Jesus came. “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 14 b. Holy Spirit came. “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God?” 1 Corinthians 6:19 “Light yourself on fire with passion and people will come from miles to watch you burn.” --John Wesley 3. The glory of LORD is not a guarantee in our life. “Phinneas wife, She named the boy Ichabod, saying, “The Glory has departed from Israel"—because of the capture of the ark of God and the deaths of her father-in-law and her husband.” 1 Samuel 4:21 “Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.” Revelation 2:4-5 4. Be filled with the glory of God a. We are in Christ – Positional Salvation Romans 8:1 there is therefor no condemnation for those who are in Christ. Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Colossians 3:3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. b. Christ in us – Sanctification Colossians 1:27 “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
