Clothes moths are tricky because adults don’t eat fabric—they lay eggs. Larvae are the culprits, feeding on keratin-rich fibers like wool, silk, and cashmere. Watch for small holes, silky webbing, tiny rice-sized larvae, musty smells, and crawling moths. To stop them, empty your wardrobe and inspect every item, including seams and folds. Wash or hot iron infested clothing; freeze delicate fabrics for 48 hours. Vacuum thoroughly in corners, under furniture, and along skirting boards, then dispose of the bag. Steam carpets and upholstery to kill remaining larvae. Regular cleaning keeps moths away permanently.
